Notable Events in just the last 8 years of CECC’s 50 year history!

March 2006 – 1st CECC Newsletter

Jan – April 2006 – Automatic gate & new fence installed

April 2006 – Electrical outlets and lighting installed at covered shelter

May 2006 – 1st Cooper Estates website created

August 2006 – Boat landing officially named “Madere’s Landing”

September 2007 – Fred Madere 1927-2007

March 2008 – New sod and major improvements to roadway and parking area

March 2008 – 1st Annual Oyster Roast

October 2010 – Rope Lighting installed at boat shelter

October 2010 – 1st Annual Fishing Tourney

November 2010 – 1st CECC Monthly Supper Club

June 2011 – Pet cleanup dispenser installed

July 2011 – Creek swing installed

November 2011 – New fire pit built

December 2011 – 1st Annual New Year’s Eve Party

February 2013 – Dirt hill removed and bulletin board installed

March 2013 – Four new picnic tables for shelter built

 


 

April 30, 1965 – Cooper Estates homes and lots offered for sale in The Charleston Evening Post

June 1965 – Original boat ramp is poured and CECC is officially formed

June 1977 – Attempt to install sidewalk on Cottingham Rd fund drive fails, cost would have been $25,000

Late 70’s Early 80’s – Medico lock, one key per membership, manual gate installed

Mid-To-Late 80’s – Street lights installed at boat landing

Sept 1989 – Hurricane Hugo hits

November 1990 – Pier and dock built.  Members who paid $100 received a key to the gate and dock

December 1993 – Original Oyster/Fire pit built and grill installed

May 1996 – Boat landing shelter is constructed and boat wash down slab is poured.  Water is installed at the landing!

Late 90’s Early 2000’s – Porta Potty installed

September 2000 – Improvements to Wash Down. 50′ of roadway is paved with ROC leading to wash down pad

May 2001 – Boat ramp is extended 30′ towards the parking area

May 2004 – Boat ramp is extended 4′ into Shem Creek

October 2004 – First CECC Halloween Party

December 2004 – Fish cleaning table installed

June 2005 – Aluminum ramp to floating dock installed
